Bechem United stunned FC Samartex after beating the former champions 2-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex in Samreboi on Sunday.
First half strikes from Samuel Okai and Yaw Annor were enough for the visitors despite a consolation by the hosts before the break.
Akwasi Sarpong had given the home side hope with a late first half goal following a dramatic 45 minutes.
The Hunters had the opportunity to open the scoring early in the match after they were awarded a spot kick just 12 minutes into the game.
Kofi Tompuo elected himself for the spot kick, but missed to keep the scores goalless.
However, after dominating the early exchanges, Okai finished off brilliantly to give Bechem a deserved lead.
Five minutes later, Bechem United doubled their lead through Annor following a fine team effort.
Samartex, who were looking completely lost, bounced back in the final moments of the half, with Sarpong pulling one back at the stroke of half time.
After the break, the Timber boys almost levelled but the Hunters were equal to the task.
Bechem United kept their composure, soaking in pressure and offering a threat through counter attack.
Meanwhile, Samartex, who have not won a game since January kept pushing for at least an equalizer, but could not find a way past the resolute defence of the away side.
