Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a bold move for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers as new manager Thomas Frank looks to strengthen his squad this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Frank has made the addition of a creative midfielder a top priority. Spurs initially pushed to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, but the Reds blocked his exit. The urgency has only grown following James Maddison’s serious knee injury, with Dejan Kulusevski also struggling with fitness issues.
Eze or Rogers? Spurs Consider Their Options
Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze remains a key target for Tottenham, though Arsenal are also firmly in the race for the England international. With competition fierce, Spurs have now turned their attention to Rogers, who impressed under Unai Emery last season.
Despite Aston Villa selling Jacob Ramsey earlier this summer, they remain under pressure from PSR regulations and may need to sanction another high-profile departure. However, the Midlands club are determined to keep Rogers and will demand a hefty fee if Spurs come knocking.
Why Rogers Fits the Bill
Valued at £47m by Transfermarkt and tied down to a long-term deal until 2030, Rogers would not come cheap. Still, his versatility makes him a tempting option for Spurs. The 23-year-old can operate as a No.10, on the left wing, and even out wide on the right – though his strongest displays came centrally and from the left.
Quick, powerful, and technically gifted, Rogers thrives at driving past defenders, creating chances, and contributing goals. Crucially, he also brings relentless work rate off the ball – an attribute Frank values highly.
