Here we will take a look at the highest attended women’s soccer matches of all time.
1. Barcelona vs Wolfsburg, April 22, 2022 – 91,648 (Camp Nou)
At number one, we have Barcelona vs. Wolfsburg in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Even for a semi-final match, the crowd showed up big time. Luckily, those in attendance witnessed a splurge of goals. Barcelona ended up on top with a 5-1 victory. Unforgettable is an understatement with the stars and fans that showed out.
2. Barcelona vs Real Madrid, March 30, 2022 – 91,553 (Camp Nou)
There must be something in the Camp Nou that lures crowds into the stadium. The history behind Camp Nou is unlike any other venue, with legends such as Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi contributing to its majestic presence. Now, this match in the World Cup final compares to the very few as the USA-China fiery rivalry was on full display. England and Germany are two proficient organizations in the world of soccer. Both the men’s and women’s sides are international powerhouses. To pack Wembley, an iconic stadium where various soccer legends have reached stunning achievements, is an accomplishment some may have never considered to be done in women’s soccer. Yet, this match surpassed all expectations.
Ending in a 2-1 score, England defeated the German squad thanks to a late-game winner by Chloe Kelly in the 110th minute. This being the 2022 EURO final elevated the competition and the tension. Nearly a year after their EURO victory, the Lionesses secured the 2023 Women’s Finalissima against Brazil in a 4-2 penalty shoot-out. Chloe Kelly once again showed up big time and delivered the winning penalty kick.
