Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets: Preview, prediction and odds

Preview for Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets

The Dallas Cowboys enter Week 5 at 1-2 and in need of momentum as they head to MetLife Stadium to face the winless New York Jets, who are desperate to avoid slipping to 0-5.

Dallas left Week 4 frustrated after a 40-point performance against Green Bay still wasn’t enough to secure victory.

Dak Prescott and the offense moved the ball well, but the defense once again collapsed late, failing to hold in regulation before running out of steam in overtime.

That inconsistency has become a theme for the Cowboys, who currently own the NFL’s worst pass defense, allowing nearly 300 yards through the air per game.

The Jets weren’t much better in their primetime loss to Miami. Despite rushing for 197 yards behind strong outings from Justin Fields and Breece Hall, three costly fumbles doomed New York in a 27-21 defeat.

The defensive line, expected to be the strength of the roster, didn’t record a single sack, and the secondary continued to give up explosive plays.

Under new coordinator Aaron Glenn, the unit ranks near the bottom of the league in most passing metrics, with every opponent scoring at least 27 points.

Injuries are an added concern for both sides. New York could be without running back Braelon Allen (knee) and several key defenders, including linebacker Jermaine Johnson and cornerbacks Michael Carter II and Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

Dallas, meanwhile, is adjusting to life without star receiver CeeDee Lamb, who is sidelined with a high ankle sprain. Prescott will instead rely on George Pickens, Jacob Ferguson, and Jalen Cropper to shoulder the offensive load.
