Chelsea boss Bompastor signs new deal

Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor has signed a contract extension with the club until summer 2030.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this evening.

The 45-year-old was appointed Chelsea head coach in summer 2024 and she guided the South West Londoners to the domestic treble last season. Chelsea went the entire Barclays Women’s Super League season without tasting defeat.

This season has been tough with Chelsea failing to reach the same heights. Back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City in the last fortnight have brought an almost certain end to the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League title defence. Despite Chelsea’s struggles, the club have backed Bompastor by agreeing to extend her current contract.

After signing her new contract, Bompastor said “I am delighted to extend my stay here. I want to thank the club for their unwavering support and the trust they have shown in me. It’s a privilege to lead this team and I could not be prouder to represent Chelsea.

“Our fans have made me feel at home since the day I arrived and I am grateful for the many special moments we have shared together so far. Lifting the WSL trophy at Stamford Bridge and FA Cup at Wembley with our supporters are memories I will never forget.

“Our success as a team is built on grit, resilience and intensity and we do not settle for anything less than winning. We have so much left to fight for, we are competing on four fronts, and we will give everything, every single day to make our supporters proud. My focus is firmly on bringing more success to this amazing club.”

Bompastor will look to guide Chelsea back to winning ways when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
