Tottenham have announced the appointment of former Juventus, Lazio and Marseille head coach Igor Tudor as their interim boss until the end of the season.
Spurs sacked Thomas Frank after a dire campaign in the Premier League, which leaves them five points off the relegation zone.
Reports claimed the club were unsure whether to pursue a permanent or interim replacement for the Dane, with official Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange eventually settling on the latter.
Mauricio Pochettino is still heavily favoured to return to the club in the summer, after fulfilling his duties as USMNT boss.
There is no option to extend Tudor’s contract beyond his initial stay, but reports claim he will be given a fair shot to stake his claim.
Speaking as Spurs boss for the first time, he said: “It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment.
“I understand the responsibility I have been handed and my focus is clear. To bring greater consistency to our performances and compete with conviction in every match.
“There is strong quality in this playing squad, and my job is to organise it, energise it and improve our results quickly.”
