Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, led his technical team to the high-stake Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak on Sunday, as part of their ongoing mission to identify quality players to beef up the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament to be staged in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Ghana Premier League showdown at Baba Yara Sports Stadium ended 1-0 in Hearts of Oak’s favour, thanks to Baba Adamu’s early strike. Addo and his team monitored the high-stake clash closely, where certain players including goalkeeper Benjamin Asare showcased top-class performances.

Otto Addo’s delegation included Desmond Offei, Alain Ravera, Kim Lars Bjorkegren and Black Stars technical advisor Wilfried Schaefer.

The visit highlights the Black Stars’ renewed focus on scouting domestic talent, complementing their ongoing monitoring of Ghanaian players in Europe. Over the past few weeks, Addo, former talent development coach at Dortmund, has tracked the progress of players such as Jordan Ayew, Fatawu Issahaku, Thomas Asante, Thomas Partey, Kwasi Sibo, and Mohammed Salisu in top European leagues including Germany, France, Spain, and England.

By extending the scouting mission to Ghana’s top-flight, Addo signals to local players that every league match is a chance to impress the national team coaches and stake their claim for a call-up to represent Ghana on the world stage.
