Premier League to permit pauses for Ramadan breaks

The Premier League and English Football League will again permit pauses for Muslim players to break their fast during Ramadan.

Ramadan will begin on Tuesday evening and last until March 18th. During the month, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset.

Premier League and Football League authorities will again grant pauses in play to allow Muslim players to break their fast during this period.

With sunset in the UK due to range from around 5pm and 7pm during the Ramadan period, the pauses will impact games scheduled for the Saturday evening slot (17:30 kick-off) and Sunday afternoon (16:30 kick-off).

According to the BBC, officials and club captains will find a ‘natural pause’ to allow players to break their fast.
