Gianni Infantino: “The demand is there” as all 104 World Cup matches declared SOLD OUT – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

All 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be “sold out,” according to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, despite tickets still being available ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on June 11.

Speaking to CNBC from US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Infantino expressed confidence in the overwhelming demand for the first-ever 48-team World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico.

“The demand is there. Every match is sold out,” Infantino said.

According to the FIFA boss, there have been 508 million ticket requests in just four weeks for approximately seven million tickets available for the tournament, which will run until July 19.

“(We’ve) never see anything like that — incredible,” he added, noting that requests during the main sales phase in January came from more than 200 countries.

Infantino explained that FIFA has deliberately kept “some tickets back” for a final sales phase set to begin in April and continue until the end of the competition.

Addressing concerns over ticket prices, which supporters’ groups have described as “exorbitant,” Infantino said market forces are partly responsible.

“I think it is because it’s in America, Canada and Mexico,” he said. “Everybody wants to be part of something special.

“Ticket prices have been fixed but you have, in the US in particular, something called dynamic prices, meaning the prices will go up or down.

“You are able as well to resell your tickets on official platforms, secondary markets, so the prices as well will go up.

“That’s part of the market we are in.”

Infantino also projected significant financial returns from the expanded tournament.

He estimated the World Cup would generate $11 billion or more in revenue for FIFA, stressing that “every dollar” would be reinvested in football across its 211 member associations.

The FIFA president further projected that the tournament could contribute around $30 billion to the US economy through tourism, catering, security investments and related activities.

“It’s a big impact,” he said. “I hope this impact will not just be limited to the World Cup but for the future as well.”
