Newcastle United are preparing for a difficult summer as three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs circle Lewis Hall. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have all registered interest in the left-back, according to Caught Offside.
The 21-year-old has developed into one of the division’s most promising full-backs since establishing himself at St James’ Park. Newcastle face another challenging transfer window, defending their best players from wealthier rivals.
Last summer saw Alexander Isak depart for Liverpool after a prolonged negotiation. The Magpies eventually accepted defeat in that saga despite initial resistance. This time, Hall and right-back Valentino Livramento have both attracted significant attention from clubs capable of offering higher wages and European football.
Livramento recently emerged as an Arsenal target while Pep Guardiola pushes Manchester City to sign him but Newcastle appear more willing to entertain offers for the right-back compared to Hall.
The club’s stance on selling their left-sided defender remains unclear despite reported interest from multiple suitors. Reports suggest Newcastle would demand around £70 million if forced into a sale.
Liverpool and Arsenal recently strengthened left-back positions
Liverpool signed Milos Kerkez while Arsenal brought in Hincapie last summer.
Both clubs addressed their left-back needs relatively recently. Whether they require another option in that position remains questionable. Hall would provide competition and depth rather than filling an urgent gap.
Spending £70 million on a backup left-back represents a luxury few clubs can afford.
Manchester City’s interest appears more puzzling given their recent acquisition of Rayan Ait-Nouri while Nico O’Reilly has also operated at left-back when required. However, Guardiola rarely hesitates upgrading positions when superior talent becomes available.
Hall’s technical quality and tactical intelligence would appeal to City’s possession-based approach.
Newcastle will hold strong position in Lewis Hall negotiations
The defender signed a long-term deal keeping him at the club until 2029. No immediate pressure exists to sell unless an exceptional offer arrives.
Midfielder Sandro Tonali also attracts interest, potentially forcing Newcastle into multiple difficult decisions regarding key players.
The player’s own preferences will prove crucial if serious bids materialize.
Hall must weigh staying at Newcastle against joining clubs competing for major trophies. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all offer Champions League football and realistic title challenges.
Whether any club tables a £70 million bid remains uncertain, but Newcastle are bracing for enquiries when the summer window opens.
