Gabriel latest Arsenal star to withdraw from internationals

Gabriel Maghalaes has become the latest Arsenal star to withdraw from international duty.

The centre-back has pulled out of the Brazil squad for friendlies against France and Croatia this month, due to ‘right keen pain’. The Brazilian national team have confirmed the news.

“Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães is out of the friendlies against France and Croatia,” the statement said.

“After the match this Sunday (22) against Manchester City in the English League Cup final, the player complained of pain in his right knee.

“Imaging tests confirmed that Gabriel Magalhães is not fit for the matches in this FIFA international window. No other player will be called up to replace him.”

Gabriel featured during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final but will not link up with the Selecao this month.

He joins club teammates William Saliba (France) and Eberechi Eze (England) in withdrawing from national duty this month. The trio will all remain in North London to recover from their respective issues.

Marquinhos, Bremer, Roger Ibañez and Léo Pereira offer alternative centre-back options for Brazil as the five-time world champions continue preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
