The problem is everything off the pitch. Fernandes is Manchester United’s most important player, the club’s captain, and someone who has publicly indicated he is not looking for the exit door.

The Turkish Super Lig is a less physically demanding environment than the Premier League, which might appeal in the later years of his career, but that moment does not feel like now.
