The reason is straightforward enquiries have been pouring in for the Ivory Coast international’s signature, with Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Manchester United all among the clubs that have made contact. Bayern Munich and Besiktas have also shown interest, and the level of attention surrounding the 26-year-old has reportedly caused something close to panic in Rome.
Roma’s financial situation under Financial Fair Play scrutiny means they are in no position to resist a serious offer.
Ndicka arrived on a free transfer in 2023, which means any sale this summer would represent pure profit on the books. That is a rare and valuable position for a club under financial pressure, and it appears to be driving serious internal discussion about whether keeping him is even a realistic option, regardless of what the coaching staff might prefer.

Liverpool and Tottenham have the strongest case for Evan Ndicka this summer
Of the three clubs involved, Manchester United’s need for a centre-back is arguably the least pressing.
Liverpool’s situation is more urgent with Ibrahima Konate’s contract expires this summer and talks over a new deal have not yet reached a breakthrough. Losing Konate on a free would leave a significant gap at the heart of Arne Slot’s defence, and Ndicka’s availability, experience and age make him a natural candidate to fill it.
Tottenham’s need is equally real, if not more so. Mickey van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both facing uncertain futures at the club, with Spurs in a relegation battle and the summer set to bring major squad upheaval regardless of their final league position. Adding a proven, fit, and experienced centre-back for a fee of around €40 million would represent good business given the scale of the rebuild ahead.
Roma’s Financial Fair Play pressure makes Evan Ndicka sale hard to avoid
Former Roma player Antonio Zago made clear in a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport that he would prefer Ndicka to stay.
“He’s young, he should stay and be confirmed,” Zago said, acknowledging the possibility of the club seeking a more experienced replacement. His sentiments are understandable, but the financial reality may leave Roma without a genuine choice on the matter.
Selling him at over €40 million, having paid nothing to sign him, would provide significant breathing room under Financial Fair Play regulations. Roma may want to keep him. Their balance sheet may not allow it. For Tottenham, Liverpool, and Manchester United, that tension works entirely in their favour.
