Haji Wright will be playing in the English Premier League next season.
Wright and Coventry City sealed promotion to England’s top-flight after fighting back to tie Blackburn Rovers 1-1 at Ewood Park. It marks the Sky Blues’ return to the Premier League since 2001.
Ryoya Morishita boosted the hosts in front after 54 minutes but Coventry City would use a late equalizer from Bobby Thomas to earn them the single point they needed.
Wright did not start the match but did play the final 28 minutes off the bench. The U.S. men’s national team forward has been key for the Sky Blues once again this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions.
Wright joined Coventry City from Turkish club Antalyaspor ahead of the 2023-24 season and has since tallied 48 goals over three campaigns.
He will become the latest American player to play in the Premier League next season, joining in the past footsteps of Clint Dempsey, Christian Pulisic, and Tyler Adams.
Coventry City will seek to finish the season top of the table, next taking on Portsmouth midweek at home. Frank Lampard’s men will also take on Wrexham and Watford in their final two matches.
