Ghanaian defender Ema Twumasi endured a night to forget as his first-half red card shaped Piast Gliwice’s gritty 1â1 draw away to Lechia Gdansk.
Twumasi was dismissed in the 24th minute, leaving Piast to battle more than an hour with ten men at the Polsat Plus Arena GdaÅsk.
Despite the setback, Daniel MyÅliwiec’s side dug in and almost pulled off a remarkable smash-and-grab. After surviving sustained pressure and going behind to Ivan Zhelizko’s close-range finish on 63 minutes, Piast somehow found a response late on. Patryk Dziczek kept his nerve from the spot in the 85th minute to rescue a point, converting low to the goalkeeper’s right after a foul in the area.
The dismissal capped a mixed 2025/26 Ekstraklasa campaign for Twumasi, who has made 25 league appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 0 assists so far.
Piast will now try to turn this hard-earned draw into momentum when they return home to face Arka Gdynia in their next Ekstraklasa outing on Monday, 27 April.
