Galatasaray join ‘open race’ for Manchester United midfielder

Manchester United - Manuel Ugarte

Galatasaray are considering reigniting their interest in signing Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Turkish Süper Lig side expressed interest in signing the Uruguayan last summer and have continued to track his situation at Old Trafford. United are open to letting Ugarte leave at the end of the season, following his fall from favour.

The 25-year-old has started just eight games in the Premier League and the Red Devils are open to offers, as they look to raise funds for a midfield rebuild.

United are understood to want at least £25m for Ugarte, a figure that would see the club break even in PSR calculations. Ugarte joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain for around £51m in 2024.

According to Sky Germany, Galatasaray are one of several clubs interested. Ugarte also has interest from Juventus, while Premier League teams are also monitoring the midfielder. Newcastle and Aston Villa have both been linked.
