Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr failed to become the first Saudi side to win the AFC Champions League Two as Deniz Hummet’s 30th-minute strike gave visiting Japanese side Gamba Osaka victory in the final at the King Saud University Stadium.
Former Turkiye youth international Hummet collected Issam Jebali’s pass inside the box, swivelled and sent a composed low shot into a corner of the net to decide the contest, which featured spurned chances by Ronaldo, fellow Portugal striker Joao Felix and two-time African Footballer of the Year Sadio Mane for Al-Nassr.
“It feels amazing to bring this title to Gamba and our supporters,” said Hummet. “All of my teammates did an amazing job today, together with everyone at this club.”

AFC Champions League Two final: Hummet outshines Ronaldo
Around 100 Gamba fans made a round trip of almost 17,000 miles to see their team become the first Japanese winners of the trophy.
“Thank you to everyone for the amazing support we got,” said Hummet. “I’m very proud to be a member of this family.
“Since the day I came here, they’ve been amazing. It’s unbelievable to give them this title. Now it’s time to celebrate and enjoy.”
Mane was among the Al-Nassr players seen looking pensive as they awaited the trophy ceremony on the pitch, while Ronaldo’s fiancee, Georgina Rodriguez, was shown watching from a box at Al-Nassr’s home stadium.

Outgoing Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus could still have a memorable end to his career at the club despite this surprise AFC Champions League defeat.
Al-Nassr are two points clear of Al-Hilal at the top of the Saudi Pro League before hosting Damac, who are two points above the relegation zone, in their final game on Thursday (21:00 BST / 16:00 ET / 13:00 PT).
Al-Hilal visit Al-Fayha, who are certain to finish between ninth and 12th, in their simultaneous final game, when they must win and hope Al-Nassr do not.
Saudi tiebreakers prioritise head-to-head records between teams, which will give Al-Hilal the title if the top two finish level on points because they have taken four points from Al-Nassr this season.
