This weekend, the Girls Academy (GA) Summer Showcase will be held in Norco, CA for the Summer Playoffs, and Girls Soccer Network will be in attendance! The showcase will be held at the Silverlakes Sports Complex for all U15, U16, and U17 GA teams, and U13, U14, and U19 GA teams who have qualified for playoffs.
The Girls Academy has been fostering a competitive environment for young women to grow as athletes and leaders through the game of soccer. Along with fantastic soccer being played, the Summer Showcase will be holding some exciting events.
The Players’ Lounge
Located in the Players’ Village, this lounge will be a place for both relaxation and fun. There will be yard games, photo opportunities with GA backdrops, and overall a place for both individual and team unwinding.
Recovery Area
Also located in the Players’ Village, the Recovery Area will offer recovery boots, massage guns, and rollers. Teams will be given 30-minute time slots for use, so make sure to sign up!
The Sports Bra Project
Along with fun events, the Girls Academy has partnered with The Sports Bra Project to host a donation drive at the Advisory Panel, located in the Players’ Village. This drive is set up for attendees to donate new sports bras that will be provided to young athletes.
Sportsmanship Initiative
The Summer Showcase will also recognize outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event. In each game, a player who has demonstrated sportsmanship will be recognized by match officials and given the “Sportsmanship Award.” After the game, these athletes can go to the Advisory Panel, where they will be entered into a raffle.
Hair Braiding
Located in the Players’ Village, there will be a hair-braiding bar! Participants and players can stop by to receive free hair braiding.
Hydration Station
Look out for the hydration stations in the Players’ Village, where there will be water and Gatorade refills. There will also be information on the importance of hydration, electrolytes, and heat management that players can learn from.
