Tottenham target US striker signing as big summer continues

Tottenham Hotspur have made Folarin Balogun a top transfer target as the club’s summer recruitment drive continues.

Balogun is attracting significant interest after impressing for co-hosts The United States at this summer’s World Cup in North America. The AS Monaco forward scored twice and created another goal during the group stage, with clubs across Europe circling.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Tottenham Hotspur have Balogun in their sights.

The North Londoners have been ambitious in the summer window so far after narrowly escaping relegation from the Premier League last season.

Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Martin Dubravka have all bolstered the squad, while an £85m deal for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes has been agreed. Spurs are also pursuing a club-record deal for Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, which could cost in excess of £100m.

A centre-forward is next on the wish-list, with ex-Arsenal forward Balogun a genuine option. Balogun can leave Monaco this summer if a club meets his €50m valuation, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea also keeping tabs on his situation.
