Ornstein says Chelsea have “agreement” for £50m+ midfielder deal


Chelsea and Manchester United have just agreed terms over the transfer of Andrey Santos, who will move for £50m.

Well that escalated quickly.

Only this morning we were reporting on rumours that Manchester United and Chelsea were in club to club talks over the potential transfer fee for Andrey Santos. We said that it now looked like this deal would happen, eventually.

Well that “eventually” has turned out to be this afternoon. The transfer god himself David Ornstein has just reported that Man U have reached an agreement for the 22 year old, a £48m fee with £2m in “easily available add ons” and a 10% sell on clause. Personal terms are already in place, and Santos can now undergo a medical.

This is not a deal that’s going to go down well with a lot of Chelsea fans. It effectively bumps Romeo Lavia up the depth chart after another injury hit season, as well as putting more emphasis on Dario Essugo, who remains something of an unknown quantity after an injury hit debut campaign of his own.
