Liverpool Eye Yankuba Minteh As Salah Successor Race Heats Up

Liverpool’s rebuild of their attack post-Mohamed Salah is gathering pace, and Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh has emerged as a genuine target, according to transfer journalist David Lynch.

The Search For Salah’s Replacement

With Victor Muñoz already arriving from Osasuna, the Reds are still shopping for wide options. Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa could both depart, while Rio Ngumoha remains a long-term project rather than an immediate solution. Liverpool’s first-choice target, Yan Diomande, looks PSG-bound, and Bradley Barcola appears out of reach with Parisians reluctant to sell.

Why Minteh Fits The Profile

Enter Minteh. Lynch confirmed Liverpool are also tracking Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Said El Mala, but revealed a clear preference:

“I think of that kind of trio… the one I lean towards, and he probably had the least impressive season of the three, actually, is probably Minteh. Minteh is probably a better profile fit, obviously a left footer on the right-hand side, got Premier League experience.”

That left-footed, right-wing profile mirrors Salah’s own setup — a detail unlikely to be lost on Anfield’s recruitment team.

A Tricky Negotiation Ahead

Minteh managed just seven goal contributions last season, hardly explosive numbers. But at 21, under contract until 2029, and valued around £38m, Brighton hold all the leverage. The Seagulls have built a reputation for driving hard bargains, and this saga could easily stretch deep into the summer before any breakthrough emerges.
