Barcelona have agreed a deal to sign winger Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.
According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Adeyemi will make the move to Camp Nou on a five-year deal after the two clubs agreed a fee of €22million plus €7m in add-ons achievable through title wins and appearances.
The 24-year-old has spent the last four seasons at Dortmund, having joined from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022.
In that time he has made 146 appearances for Dortmund, scoring 36 goals.
Adeyemi adds to Barca’s already considerable options on the wings, with the Blaugrana having already signed England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer.
The Germany international, who was not included in Die Mannschaft’s squad for their unsuccessful World Cup campaign, offers blistering pace beyond that of Gordon and Spain star Lamine Yamal.
Adeyemi has a recorded top speed of 22.48 miles per hour with his explosiveness off the mark particularly impressive.
Adeyemi was timed at 3.6 seconds over the first 30 metres, quicker than Usain Bolt when he ran his 100 metre world record of 9.58 seconds. On that occasion, at the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Bolt covered the first 30 metres in 3.78 seconds.
Previously linked with Aston Villa, Adeyemi’s unofficial debut for Barca may come in the Midlands, with Barca due to face Birmingham City in a pre-season friendly on July 31.
Barca players who were not involved in the World Cup are scheduled to report for pre-season training on Monday.
