Chelsea have sold a couple of players already this summer, but only signed one.
That could change soon, however. According to the latest report from Matteo Moretto of Marca in Spain, the Blues are about to submit their second offer for Rayo Vallecano left back Pep Chavarria.
The journalists claims that, between the fixed element and the add-ons, the deal could reach €25m. Rayo are going to try and hold out for a straight €25m, and they may well get it. Chavarria has already agreed personal terms with the Blues.
Chavarria breaking Chelsea’s usual signing pattern

Getting this deal over the line soon is important – there are bigger fish to try, and this has already dragged on for some time. €25m for a 28 year old is not the kind of deal that Chelsea have been doing in recent years, and the fact that we’re going for him really feels like a sign that the club have changed their model to back new manager Xabi Alonso in getting whatever he wants to be successful right from the off.
Chavarria is described as an “express request” from Alonso.
In other news…
Manchester United have just confirmed the deal for Andrey Santos is complete – it’s not a transfer which Blues fans are delighted with.
Jonathan Rowe is a name which is being mentioned more and more often in connection with a move to Chelsea. We think he needs at least another year to develop.
