Aston Villa have announced the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on an initial loan deal.
Garnacho has signed a season-long loan deal with Aston Villa with an option to make the move permanent. The 22-year-old arrives at Villa Park after just one season with Chelsea, who he joined from Manchester United for £40m last summer.
Garnacho scored eight goals in 43 games for the West Londoners in 2025/26, but has now been allowed to move on by new head coach Xabi Alonso.
The Argentina international, who has won eight caps for his country, moves in the opposite direction to Morgan Rogers, who left Aston Villa for Chelsea in a £117m deal earlier this week.
At his unveiling, Unai Emery said he is delighted to welcome the ‘talented’ winger to Villa Park. He becomes Aston Villa’s third summer signing after deals for Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes.
“We are delighted with Alejandro,” Emery told the club’s official website.
“He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy.”
Garnacho will wear the number 17 shirt at Villa, a number he wore during his time at Manchester United.
Chelsea have confirmed the move includes a purchase obligation if certain clauses are met.
“Alejandro Garnacho has completed a season-long loan move to Premier League club Aston Villa, with an obligation for the move to become permanent next summer should certain criteria be met,” Chelsea said.
“We wish Alejandro the best as he continues his career at Aston Villa.”
