Chelsea are on the verge of securing their top central defender target for the summer after a bid was accepted by Crystal Palace.

After a frantic few days of post-World Cup negotiating, Chelsea have a deal for Maxence Lacroix.
In a Tweet this morning, the transfer guru has given his “here we go” treatment for the deal, saying that the Blues’ latest “official bid” for the defender was accepted. It looks like it will be worth £52m, and Romano has dismissed any reports of defender Axel Disasi being included in the deal going the other way.
26 year old Lacroix will sign a 7 year contract, and is taking a medical in London right now.

Lacroix fulfils Chelsea’s reported desire to buy more “ready made” players this summer rather than sticking just to targeting young talents. He’s got a couple of really impressive Premier League seasons under his belt, and is a full France international.
He should bring the leadership and experience this back-line needs, as well as superb physicality and speed. We can’t wait for him to join up with the squad after his post-World Cup holiday.
