Chelsea are preparing for their second preseason friendly of the summer – they take on Spurs on Saturday.

The group is likely to be very similar to the one that faced Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday morning, but new players are arriving from their holidays all the time.

Today’s addition was a significant one – Nicolas Jackson is back after a year spent on loan with Bayern Munich. His future is still very unclear, and at the moment he looks more likely to be loaned again or sold than he does to stay. But it’s still important for him to make a good impression on Xabi Alonso. We never know quite how things will shake out this summer.

There does seem to be some interest in buying him, however. Ben Jacobs was on the London is Blue podcast this week where he discussed some of the striker’s options.

“Aston Villa have held the initial inquiry [about Jackson.] There’s some interest from Turkey & Italy. Newcastle’s intent is not to change strikers, so at the moment they’re not revisiting their interest but there’s growing interest in the player.”
