Ghanas Black Meteors have received a bye into the second round of the TotalEnergies CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2027 qualifiers following Tuesdays draw in Cairo.Ghana will face the winner of the first-round tie between Togo and Libya in the second round of the qualifying campaign.Should the Black Meteors advance, they will face the winner of the second-round tie involving Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea or Niger in the final qualifying round.The three-round qualifying competition will determine the seven teams that join hosts Egypt at the eight-team U-23 AFCON finals.The tournament carries added importance for Ghana as it will also serve as the qualifying competition for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.Ghana have not featured in the mens Olympic football tournament since the 2004 Athens Games and will be hoping to end that 24-year wait.The Black Meteors must finish among the top two African teams at the U-23 AFCON to secure one of the continents two places at the Los Angeles Olympics.
