Fabio Vieira’s underwhelming Arsenal stint looks to be edging towards its conclusion, with reports confirming Hamburg have tabled an offer of around €13million for the Portuguese midfielder, though the two clubs remain apart on valuation for now.
Arsenal are said to be holding out for closer to €17million, but with both sides reportedly confident a compromise can be reached before the window shuts, this has the feel of a deal that gets done rather than one that collapses over a few million euros.

Vieira Arsenal exit edging closer
It is not exactly a shock to see Vieira’s time at the Emirates drawing to a close. Signed with plenty of promise from Porto, he never quite found a foothold in Arteta’s midfield, with injuries and a congested engine room limiting him to fleeting appearances rather than any sort of sustained run in the side. For a player of his creativity and technical quality, that will sting, but football at this level rarely affords second chances when the numbers ahead of you are this good.
Hamburg’s return to the Bundesliga has clearly whetted their appetite for reinforcements with genuine Premier League pedigree, even if only fringe pedigree in Vieira’s case.

Every deal of this sort, however modest the fee, helps balance the books during a window where the club have shown genuine ambition elsewhere, whether that is the pursuit of Alvarez, the interest in Osimhen, or the quieter enquiries over players like Ibrahim Mbaye. Trimming the fringes matters just as much as strengthening the spine.
There is unlikely to be much sentiment attached to this one from a Gooner’s perspective. Vieira never truly won over a section of the fanbase in the way some hoped he might, and few would argue his departure represents any real weakening of Arteta’s options in midfield, not with the depth already present there.
Expect the final number to land somewhere between the two clubs’ current positions, and do not be surprised if this one is confirmed well before deadline day arrives.
