Nottingham Forest have just confirmed that Liam Delap has joined them on a permanent transfer from Chelsea.
After one season at Stamford Bridge where he scored just twice in all competitions, there weren’t high hopes that the Blues would find a taker. But the potential Delap showed at Ipswich clearly convinced teams that his difficult spell in London was just a blip. The desire to find a Premier League level striker makes teams do strange things.
Chelsea pull off coup with huge sale of flop striker

What’s truly astonishing is the price. Nizaar Kinsella of the OFFICIAL: Liam Delap joins Nottingham Forest for fee that could reach £50m reports that it’s an initial £45m, with £5m further in add ons available too.
That’s a massive profit on a player signed for £30m just a year ago. Everyone thought Chelsea were mad asking for £50m, but somehow they pulled it off. It shows how crazy the market has gone that this is even possible.
Kinsella also mentions that Forest manager Oliver Glasner played an important role and was a “huge factor” in getting Delap in.
