Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United made some meaningful recruitments during the summer transfer window this year, but the English trio are all likely to believe that there still remain some areas of their squads with further room for improvement.
Ekrem Konur has reported that the Premier League giants are already lining up business for next year and have identified Bayern Munich full back Josip Stanisic as a potential signing for 2027 as they look to bolster their defensive departments.
On that note, the journalist has added that it would require roughly 56 million for Bayern’s resolve to be tested, whereas given the Croatian international’s prominence in Vincent Kompany’s plans, his acquisition will be far from a straightforward proposition.
Liverpool and United may be more interested than Arsenal
While there is interest from Premier League sides in Josip Stanisic’s services despite several months to go before 2027 gets underway, it is fair to think Liverpool and Manchester United may pursue him more intently than Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta already has Jurrien Timber to count on, while Ezri Konsa’s purchase last week means the former Aston Villa star is also a handy back-up in the position. Therefore, all things point towards the Gunners’ interest being peripheral.
Liverpool, on the other hand, would see Stanisic’s signing as an option to significantly revamp their right back position after Conor Bradley’s lengthy injury lay-off and Jeremie Frimpong’s underwhelming form, especially without the ball.
United, likewise, could view the 26-year-old as a valuable addition as Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have been inconsistent for several years and opponents have targeted their out-wide areas more often than not to attack against them.
Stanisic’s ability to remain calm under pressure, defend proactively thanks to his reading of the game and ability to retain possession at the back make him a sound option at right back, as opposed to a player who would attack and stay out of position.
Having won everything domestically at Bayern Munich, it will be interesting to see whether Josip Stanisic views a Premier League switch favourably for next year or prefers continuing on the Bavarian giant’s books.
