Kevin Berkoe scores in Shrewsbury Town victory over Northampton Town




English-Ghanaian midfielder Kevin Berkoe scored as Shrewsbury Town defeated Northampton Town 2-0 in League Two on Saturday.The home side produced a disciplined performance at the Meadow, securing a much-needed victory through goals in each half.Kian McMahon-Brown opened the scoring after only eight minutes, giving Shrewsbury an ideal start. Northampton struggled to create a sustained response, while the hosts remained organised and looked dangerous whenever they moved forward.Berkoe then doubled Shrewsburys advantage on the stroke of halftime. His finish arrived in the 45th minute and gave the home side a valuable cushion heading into the interval. The midfielder continued to contribute before being substituted for Lino Sousa in the 85th minute.Northampton attempted to improve after the break, but Shrewsbury defended confidently and protected their lead. The visitors were unable to find a way through, allowing the hosts to complete a clean sheet and claim all three points.Berkoe has now played six league matches this season and scored once. His latest goal adds to his growing importance within the Shrewsbury squad.The club will return to League Two action against Crewe on September 19, with Berkoe hoping to build on another positive performance.
