There is a lot of pressure on Moises Caicedo right now. This Chelsea team look very promising, but also clearly lacking some midfield bite. The assumption is that when the Ecuador star is back from injury, the team will instantly look far better.

He’s not the only one with pressure on him. Marco Palestra has also missed the whole season so far, and in fact only returned to team training this week. After impressing in pre-season, and Chelsea’s other left back options not looking outstanding in their run in the team, there is a lot of hope that adding Palestra to the team could improve things significantly.

Xabi Alonso could use him on Friday night against Brentford – but it would be a risk. This game is followed by the international break of 3 weeks. If Palestra is picked for Chelsea he will surely also get picked for Italy.

Given we want to be careful with him, if it’s a borderline case it may make sense to keep him on the bench and beg Roberto Mancini not to call him up.

In other news…

Malo Gusto was a player who got a lot of flak from Chelsea fans for his performance at the weekend – and some have understood Xabi Alonso’s comments as a criticism of him too.

Arsenal have escaped punishment from a Premier League panel who decided that Gabriel’s kick to the face of Emi Martinez was ok.
