Kofi Adams directs GFA to dissolve Black Stars technical team

Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has directed the Ghana Football Association (GFA), led by President Kurt Okraku, to dissolve the Black Stars technical team as part of a broader restructuring of Ghanas national teams. The directive was among seven measures reportedly issued by the Sports Ministry following a crunch meeting with the GFA Executive Committee on Friday, October 2.The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, was held against the backdrop of Ghanas poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the departure of head coach Carlos Queiroz.Queiroz and the GFA mutually agreed to terminate their working relationship on Thursday, October 1, a day after the Black Stars suffered a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.Ghana had earlier lost 2-0 to Cote dIvoire in Bouak, leaving the Black Stars without a point from their opening two Group C matches.According to the directive reported by Sporty FM, the dissolution will extend beyond the technical team, with all existing national team management committees also expected to be dissolved. The move signals a wider review of the structures responsible for Ghanas national teams, rather than focusing only on replacing Queiroz. The Sports Ministry has also proposed a new National Technical Management Committee and changes to the management structure of the national teams as part of the seven-point directive.Adams has previously said the government cannot simply dissolve the GFA because it is a legally registered association, but has maintained that government has a role to play in matters involving the national teams and public resources.
