Ferguson’s Pivotal Save Holds Women’s Soccer to Tie Pfeiffer



MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Methodist University women’s soccer team performed strong defensively against Pfeiffer University at Lefko-Mills Field, driving the Falcons to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Freshman Anna Wiggins led the Monarchs in the first half with three shots, two shots on goal, in 18 minutes of action. Freshman Lillian Pressler would follow suit with one shot on goal in the 17th minute, with Methodist earning six shots through the first 45 minutes of play.
  • A feisty second half on both sides of the turf featured four yellow cards, two on both squads, and minimal offensive momentum for the Monarchs as senior Daphne Paleocrassas took the lone strike in the 48th minute for Methodist around the stout Pfeiffer defensive front.
  • Off a Falcons quick drive, freshman Kiera Ferguson held strong by capturing a crucial save in the 88th minute of the clash, keeping the match to a stalemate as time ticked down.

BY THE NUMBERS
