Half-time 0–0 · Referee: E. Calvo
Granadilla Tenerife beat Athletic Club 2-0 in Liga F on Monday 2 November, with Padilla and Gramaglia scoring after a goalless first half in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Athletic had gone four league matches without defeat before the trip to the island.
Padilla breaks through six minutes after the restart
Neither side found a way through before half-time. The only incident of note came in the 42nd minute, when Quiles was booked for a foul.
The deadlock lasted until the 51st minute. Zaremba provided the assist and Padilla finished to put the hosts ahead.
Athletic picked up two bookings as they chased the game. Martínez was shown a yellow card in the 53rd minute and Valero followed her into the referee’s notebook in the 73rd. Granadilla’s Muina Asla was cautioned in the 79th minute, leaving the card count level at two apiece for referee Calvo.
Gramaglia settled it in the 89th minute. Her goal doubled the lead and sealed a clean sheet for the home side.
Three straight shutouts against Athletic
This was another strong evening for Granadilla in this fixture. Athletic have now failed to score in the last three meetings: a 0-0 draw in August 2025, a 5-0 defeat on the island in January 2026 and this result. Granadilla have also won their last three home games against the Basque side, going back to a 2-1 victory on 2 November 2024.
The win continues a productive run for the hosts, who have taken four victories from their last five matches. Their only defeat in that stretch was a 3-2 loss to Real Madrid.
One point separates fifth and sixth
After nine rounds, Athletic are fifth on 15 points with a record of four wins, three draws and two defeats. Granadilla are sixth on 14 points, and their goal difference now stands at zero.
Both sides sit within touching distance of the places above. Atlético Madrid are fourth on 16 points and Madrid CFF third on 17, while Barcelona lead on 24 ahead of Real Madrid on 22.
Athletic face the harder assignment next. They host second-placed Real Madrid on Saturday 7 November. Granadilla are at home again on Sunday 8 November, when 14th-placed Deportivo Alavés, who have 8 points from nine games, visit.
