Manchester City beat West Ham 5-0 in the WSL at the Manchester Regional Arena on Saturday 7 November, scoring four times after the break to turn a narrow half-time lead into a rout. Khadija Shaw scored three, with Aoba Fujino and Iman Beney also on the scoresheet.

Rita Guarino’s side held out until the 38th minute. Carlotta Wamser then supplied the pass for Shaw to open the scoring, and it stayed 1-0 at the interval.

The second half was a different story. Shaw doubled the lead in the 53rd minute from a Lauren Hemp assist, and Fujino added a third seven minutes later. Fujino then turned provider for Beney in the 68th minute.

Shaw finished the job in the 74th minute. Grace Clinton set her up. That made four goals in 21 minutes after the restart, and Shaw ended with a match rating of 9.66, the highest on the pitch, from six shots in 75 minutes. Fujino, with a goal and an assist, was rated 8, while Hemp created five chances.

City had 10 shots on target to West Ham’s 2, and 55% of the ball. Their expected goals figure was 2.14, well short of the five they scored. West Ham managed 13 attempts but only twice tested Yamashita, who made 2 saves, while Picaud was kept busy with 5 at the other end.

Referee Megan Wilson booked Rebecca Knaak and Kerstin Casparij for City, and Viviane Asseyi for West Ham in first-half stoppage time. Asseyi, with 5 league goals, sits level with Hemp in the scoring charts.

Nine goals put Shaw three clear in the scoring chart

Shaw’s treble took her to 9 WSL goals for the season. Pelova of Tottenham Hotspur and Malard of Chelsea are next on 6 apiece.

City are top with 25 points from 9 games: eight wins, one draw and no defeats, with a goal difference of 17. Chelsea are second on 23 points from the same number of matches, while London City Lionesses are third on 16. Andrée Alexander Jeglertz’s side are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions, a run that includes a 4-2 win over Arsenal and draws with Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain.

This was also a fourth successive win over West Ham, after a 1-0 league victory in November 2025, a 5-1 WSL Cup win that December and a 4-1 win in May. The last West Ham result in the fixture that was not a defeat was a 1-1 draw in March 2025.
