Everton and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 1-1 draw at Walton Hall Park on the final day of the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
Veatriki Sarri opened the scoring for The Toffees but a Drew Spence goal ensured a share of the spoils for the visitors.
It was the hosts who started off the stronger side. Toni Payne struck from 25 yards out in-front of an open goal, but her effort failed to hit the target.
Everton won a free-kick when Honoka Hayashi was fouled on the edge of the box. Sarri took the set-piece and while Lize Kop got the slightest touch to the ball, it wasn’t enough to stop it flying into the back of the net.
Everton went close to a second goal when Beth England struggled to clear the ball from a corner. Martina Fernandez headed the loose ball towards goal but it hit the crossbar.
The visitors then equalised through Spence. Olivia Holdt made a pass to Ella Morris, who then slid the ball perfectly over to Spence to fire in at the back post.
The hosts started the second half strongly. Sarri took a corner and while Kelly Gago got her boot to the ball, her shot was blocked by a wall of white shirts.
Katja Snoeijs has been in good form for Everton recently and she attempted to add to her goal tally with a long shot but Kop was ready and caught the ball.
At the other end, Courtney Brosnan produced a good save to deny Jess Naz. The keeper got her foot to the ball to keep it out as the two sides shared the spoils on the final day.
Everton end the campaign in eighth place in the Barclays Women’s Super League table while Spurs are just one place above the relegation spot.
