Mohammed Kudus has become the most expensive Ghanaian player ever following his move to Tottenham Hotspurs.
Kudus signed a long-term deal to join Spurs from West Ham United for a fee of £5m, surpassing the £45.3m Arsenal paid to bring Thomas Partey to London in 2020.
His £38m move to West Ham in August 2023 keeps him in third place with Ghana legend Michael Essien and Olympique Lyonnais’ Ernest Nuamah in fourth and fifth places with a transfer fees of £24.4 and £22m respectively.
The Black Stars midfielder’s move ends speculations over his future after several clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea were reported to be interested in his signature.
The former Ajax midfielder enjoyed a decent spell at West Ham, scoring 19 goals in 80 matches across all competitions for the Hammers.
Kudus will join his new teammates this week for pre-season under the leadership of coach Thomas Frank.
His first competitive assignment will be in the UEFA Super League game against European champions Paris Saint Germain.
