Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren says his side must create better chances and test Algeria’s defence in Saturday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarterfinal in Berkane.
Ghana qualified after finishing second in Group C, sealing their place with a 4-1 win over Tanzania. Algeria, meanwhile, progressed from a tough Group B without conceding a goal, despite facing Nigeria, Tunisia, and Botswana.
“Algeria are a really well-organised team, especially in defence, and they have a good goalkeeper,” Bjorkegren said.
“We’ve talked about the need to make it a little more difficult for her. We can’t just shoot from 45 meters and hope for the best. We need to create better chances and be clinical. There’s no need to look for fancy goals.”
He added, “It’s going to be a difficult game, but I believe in the players. I’m sure they’ll put in a good performance.”
