Former Youth and Sports Minister Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has expressed concerns about the Black Stars overall performance despite their impressive victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.Ghana secured a dominant 5-0 win over Chad and followed it up with a 3-0 victory against Madagascar in March. These results have placed them at the top of Group I with 15 points, three ahead of second-placed Comoros. However, Vanderpuye believes the team still has a lot to improve if they want to be competitive at the highest level.Speaking to Channel One Sports, he questioned whether the national team has made any real progress. So sometimes you must appreciate the quality of the game that was played, you must look whether the team has moved from level A to level B, from class one to class two, and not just about the result, he said. And I think the two matches we have played so far dont give me any indication that there has been an improvement in the team, even though weve won those matches by wide score lines. The Black Stars will return to action in June 2025 for World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. Before that, they will compete in the 2025 Unity Cup in May, facing Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
