A Look at Every NWSL Training Facility

As soccer fans, we love the thrill of game day–packing stadiums, grabbing our favorite snacks, and watching our favorite players take the pitch. But have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes? Where do NWSL teams train, prepare, and put in the hard work long before the whistle blows?

Angel City Football Club

ACFC has been training at California Lutheran University (CLU) since 2022, but in January of this year, the team just celebrated the ribbon cutting of their brand new, state-of-the-art training facility on campus. It is the largest in professional women’s soccer, with 50,000 square feet of space dedicated to high-performance technology, recovery, and hydrotherapy.

Bay FC

SoCal is not the only area of the state that has seen a training site revamp. Just last month, Bay FC announced its partnership with architecture and design firm, Olson Kundig, to design an innovative training and recovery center with locally sourced materials and access to top-of-the-line amenities. The new site will be located on Treasure Island and plans to be unveiled in time for the 2027 season.

Denver (coming soon)

One of the NWSL’s newest upcoming teams, set to start in 2026, is also building a new stadium and training center, in partnership with the City of Centennial and the Cherry Creek School District (CCSD). The facility will sit on 43 acres and have a staggering eight soccer fields, strength and conditioning facilities, and more.

Portland Thorns FC

In February 2025, it was announced that the Portland Thorns and the city’s new WNBA team will share a $150 million performance facility in Hillsboro, west of Portland. This joint training center is the first of its kind for women’s teams in different sports and will feature two full-size soccer pitches and two full-size basketball courts.

Utah Royals

In 2024, the new SharkNinja Performance Center was unveiled in Utah. It houses all five Utah soccer teams. The multimillion-dollar facility features top-of-the-line equipment, a children’s playroom, and space for nursing mothers.

Washington Spirit

The Spirit, along with D.C. United, Loudoun United F.C., and D.C. United Youth Academy, trains at the United Performance Center, a 40,000-square-foot center with four full-size practice fields and training and recovery spaces.

Racing Louisville

The family behind the Racing Louisville training facility had more than just professional athletes in mind, they wanted to serve the whole community. Racing Louisville FC and Louisville City FC train at the Lynn Family Sports Vision & Training Center, a multimillion-dollar training facility which also offers services to the greater community, including clinics, camps, and community events.

Kansas City Current

In addition to making history with its first-ever stadium built specifically for women’s soccer, KC Current trains out of state-of-the-art facilities in partnership with the University of Kansas Health System, which focuses on all aspects of player health and wellness.

San Diego Wave

The Wave’s training facilities include two dedicated training fields, a gym, meal room, analysis room, and more.

Chicago Stars FC

A future training facility may be “written in the stars” for Chicago Stars FC. Karen Leetzow, Club president, said the club is “continuing to pursue the possibility of practicing in their own facilities.” It is unclear where the team currently trains.

Houston Dash

The Dash currently trains at Houston Sports Park, a multi-field site that is also home to the Houston Dynamo FC first team and the Dynamo FC youth academy. In addition to the fields exclusively used by the professional teams, the community may rent and use the additional fields.

Orlando Pride

The Pride train at the Orlando Heath Training Ground at Sylvan Lake Park, marking the first NWSL team to have its own exclusive training facility. The site features a replica of the stadium locker room, grass training fields, and additional amenities like an analysis room and a meal room.

NJ/NY Gotham FC

Gotham FC shares its training facility with the New York Red Bulls in Whippany, NJ. The facility boasts 15 acres, four full-sized fields, a lounge area, a gym, and more.

North Carolina Courage

NC Courage plays and trains at the First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC. Two of their practice fields are built to the same specifications as the main stadium field, and there are an additional four practice fields for the teams to train on.
