Midfielder Priscilla Okyere expressed her delight after guiding Ampem Darkoa Ladies to the Women’s Premier League title, following a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Hasaacas Ladies in the final.
Okyere, who scored the crucial equaliser in the 58th minute to bring her side level, praised the team’s resilience and fighting spirit.
“It means a lot for me and also for the entire team because we started this season with the aim to win this championship, and that’s what we showed here today. We showed character and we showed attitude,”** she said.
“For me, I’m very happy and also I’m happy for the whole team because we got a good game today and led us to the win so I’m very happy.”
Gloria Adomako later netted the 86th-minute winner to seal Ampem Darkoa’s fifth league crown, a strong response after losing the title to Police Ladies last season.
The victory secures Ampem Darkoa’s place in the WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, where they will aim to represent Ghana on the continental stage.
