Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Frenkie de Jong, with the Barcelona midfielder emerging as a surprise transfer target this summer. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Dutch international is entering the final year of his contract at Camp Nou and could be available for a cut-price deal.
Barcelona Open to Sale
De Jong, 28, has been with Barcelona since 2019, making 177 La Liga appearances and scoring 14 goals. Despite playing a key role in last season’s domestic double — winning both La Liga and the Copa del Rey — the midfielder is said to be open to a fresh challenge, particularly in the Premier League.
Barcelona are willing to consider offers of around €25 million, as they look to cash in rather than risk losing him for free next summer.
Arsenal’s Transfer Ambitions Continue
Arsenal have already been active in the market, securing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP. However, Mikel Arteta and the Gunners’ hierarchy are keen to further strengthen the midfield ahead of a demanding season.

For De Jong, a move to the Emirates would present the chance to test himself in the Premier League while joining a team pushing for both Premier League and Champions League success. At 28, he remains in his prime years, and Arsenal believe his arrival could provide the extra quality needed to bridge the gap with Manchester City at the top.
