Ashanti Region secured their second victory of the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship after edging Upper West Region 1-0 in their Group A encounter at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Friday.Mohammed Dayvon scored the only goal of the game in the 64th minute to settle a closely fought contest and hand Ashanti Region another three points.The result follows their dramatic opening-day victory over Volta Region, where Ashanti prevailed 5-4 on penalties after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw in regulation time.Meanwhile, Volta Region bounced back from that defeat with a 2-0 victory over Western Region in the second Group A fixture of the day.Agbogah Cisse opened the scoring in the 36th minute before Samuel Maja sealed the win with a late goal in the 88th minute.The victory keeps Volta Region’s campaign alive as they look to secure progression from the group.Ashanti Region, meanwhile, will be encouraged by their perfect record from their opening two matches as the competition continues.The MTN Elite U-19 Championship provides a platform for some of Ghana’s most promising young players to gain competitive experience while developing their technical and tactical abilities.
