Aston Villa have completed the signing of London City Lionesses defender Rofiat Imuran on a permanent deal.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans this afternoon.
The 22-year-old defender joins Aston Villa after spending the last two seasons with London City Lionesses.
Imuran was a Barclays WSL2 title-winner in her first season at London City Lionesses while she made 10 appearances for The Pride in the Barclays Women’s Super League last term.
The defender started her senior career with French Arkema Première Ligue club Stade de Reims in 2022 before joining Michele Kang’s ambitious project at London City Lionesses two years later.
On the international stage, Imuran is a senior international for Nigeria.
After bringing Imuran to Aston Villa, the club’s Director of Women’s Football, Marisa Ewers said “Rofiat is an exciting young defender who already has good experience in English football and at international level.
“She brings pace, energy and quality to our defensive options, and we believe her attributes are a really good fit for how Natalia [Arroyo] wants the team to play.
“As a club, we have ambitions to build stronger connections across Africa and continue to identify and develop exciting talent from the continent. Rofiat’s arrival is another positive step in that direction.
“We’re delighted to welcome her to Aston Villa and look forward to seeing her continue to develop with us.”
Imuran is Aston Villa’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
