Bristol City sign Danish full-back Markvardsen


Bristol City have completed the signing of Danish full-back Signe Markvardsen on a permanent deal.

The Robins announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website yesterday,

The 23-year-old defender joins Bristol City from Danish A-Liga champions HB Køge. She has signed a three-year deal at Ashton Gate.

Markvardsen has enjoyed two-spells with HB Køge, either side of a period combining playing football with her studies in the United States with South Florida Bulls. She was a regular in the HB Køge side that were crowned league champions last season while she has also represented the club in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.

On the international stage, Markvardsen has represented Denmark at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level.

After adding Markvardsen to her Bristol City squad, head coach Charlotte Healy said “We’re all delighted to get Signe through the door. She is a young left-footed full-back who has fantastic experience for her age both internationally and domestically.

“Her experiences with her national team and in the Champions League will add real value to our squad. She has settled in fantastically well and I’m looking forward to the fans being able to watch her this season.”

Markvardsen is Bristol City’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
