The Women’s Coaching Alliance (WCA) was founded in 2022 by Pam Baker with a mission to close the gender leadership gap in sports and beyond. By training female athletes (ages 15–26) to coach youth sports, WCA builds a deep pipeline of confident women leaders ready to take charge—on and off the field.

What WCA Does
- Coach Today, Lead for Life: A signature program combining training, mentorship, and real-world coaching to develop leadership skills in young women.
- Paid Coaching Roles: Participants receive compensation to coach in Bay Area youth sports, gaining hands-on experience and building résumés.
- Mentor Support: Each coach pairs with experienced mentors who guide them through communication, conflict resolution, and team-building.
- Community Partnerships: WCA collaborates with local sports organizations to place coaches where they’re needed most.
Meet the Founder: Pam Baker
Pam Baker is a connector, healthcare executive, and champion for women’s leadership. After losing her husband Doug—who passionately supported girls in sports—Pam launched WCA to honor his legacy and answer a vital question: Where are all the women coaches?
With decades of experience in biotech and startups, Pam brings both business savvy and a deep sense of purpose to her role as WCA’s founder and CEO.
Leadership Academy – August 17 in Claremont!
On August 17, 2025, WCA will hold its LA County Fall Leadership Academy in Claremont, CA (1 pm–4 pm). All WCA coaches attend this pre-season bootcamp, featuring interactive workshops and leadership training designed to prepare participants to lead youth teams with confidence from day one. The inaugural session focuses on soccer coaching with AYSO Claremont and Pasadena/Altadena.
Why It Matters
- Leadership for Tomorrow: Coaching helps young women develop skills that translate far beyond the field.
- Representation Matters: Female coaches serve as powerful role models for the next generation.
- Lasting Impact: WCA isn’t just changing who’s coaching—it’s shaping who leads.
