Chelsea admire Morgan Rogers as Villa push for new contract

Aston Villa are in advanced talks to offer Morgan Rogers a new contract as interest continues to build around the 23-year-old winger. Chelsea, long-time admirers of the England international, were linked with a move in the summer but ultimately opted against adding another attacker to an already crowded squad.

Rogers, who joined Villa from Middlesbrough nearly two years ago, was named Premier League Young Player of the Year last season. After a slower start to the current campaign, he has regained form under Unai Emery, prompting Villa to act quickly to secure his future.

While Chelsea “love” Rogers, according to journalist Graeme Bailey, the club’s current attacking options make a move unlikely in the short term. The Blues signed five attackers in the last window and have both Geovany Quenda and Emanuel Emegha arriving next summer, limiting space for further additions.

Nonetheless, Chelsea’s interest hasn’t faded entirely. A future move could be revisited depending on squad changes or availability. Rogers also has a close relationship with Cole Palmer, which would be a natural link if Chelsea were to renew their pursuit.

PSG keeping tabs on Rogers after standout performance

Arsenal and PSG have also emerged as admirers of Rogers following a standout display against them last season. Bailey notes that the French club have maintained a watching brief and are impressed by the winger’s continued development in the Premier League.

Villa are aware of the growing attention and plan to make Rogers one of the highest earners at the club to reflect his importance. Talks are progressing well, and the expectation is that a new deal will be agreed soon.

Since arriving at Villa Park, Rogers has developed into one of the league’s most dynamic young wingers. Emery’s coaching has been key, and the club are keen to reward that progress. Securing his future would represent a strong statement from Villa amid interest from Europe’s elite.

For Chelsea, Rogers remains a long-term target but with their current squad profile, any move appears unlikely before summer 2026 at the earliest.
