Chelsea have opened talks to sign Aston Villa’s standout forward Morgan Rogers as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
According to journalist Simon Phillips via his Substack, the Blues have already begun negotiations with Rogers’ representatives over a potential deal worth around £80 million. The 22-year-old was a revelation for Unai Emery’s side last season, registering 14 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.

Despite having five years left on his contract, Rogers is reportedly open to a new challenge. While Aston Villa won’t force him to stay, they’re reluctant to let him go cheaply. Emery has publicly praised the attacker, calling him a “fantastic” talent—highlighting just how valued he is at Villa Park.
Why Rogers Is a Perfect Fit for Chelsea
Rogers’ versatility is a major asset—capable of playing on either wing, in attacking midfield, or even in deeper creative roles. For Chelsea, who have lacked consistent output from wide areas, his arrival could inject much-needed dynamism.
His vision, off-the-ball work rate, and ability to unlock defences align well with new manager Enzo Maresca’s tactical demands. Plus, his close friendship with Cole Palmer could help him settle quickly at Stamford Bridge.
With the Blues already landing Liam Delap, a link-up with Rogers could elevate their attack. Club-to-club negotiations are expected soon as Chelsea aim to wrap up the deal before the window heats up.
