Mudryk is keen on making the switch to Elland Road to secure consistent minutes after spending 20 months away from football following a positive test for the banned substance meldonium. Leeds emerged as frontrunners because they are willing to take the winger on a straight loan without a purchase option, which would allow Chelsea to retain long-term control over a player they signed for an initial £62 million in 2023.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are actively working on trimming Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the deadline. The prospect of Mudryk joining Strasbourg or moving to Italy is considered less likely, with the 25-year-old preferring to stay in England. Alonso addressed the speculation directly: “We will see, we still have time to decide and we don’t have to rush on many decisions and at the right time, we will take them. At the moment, not yet.”
